Vintage 1977 Seiko Chronograph 6139-6002 Pepsi Bezel

Another one from my collection, Model 6139 6002

Presents almost as new, again looks like aftermarket bezel insert, aftermarket bracelet, looks like original 6030T dial but possibly re-lumed, perfect clean movement .

Case looks to have had some polishing not as brushed as i would expect....still looks great

Watch dates from April 1977

Keeps good time, inner rotating bezel works fine, hand reset nicely.

The Seiko 6139-6009, (this one listed is a 6002 ) nicknamed the "True Cevert," is a vintage automatic chronograph watch known for its connection to Formula 1 racing legend François Cevert.

This particular model, particularly with the dark blue dial, is associated with Cevert because he was often seen wearing it while racing.

The Seiko 6139 was also chosen by other notable figures, including astronaut William Pogue, who famously wore it during the Apollo 13 mission.

Key Features of the Seiko 6139-6009 (True Cevert):

Movement: Powered by the automatic Seiko 6139 movement, the first automatic chronograph in the world. (maybe)

Dial: Typically features a dark blue dial, often with a matching pepsi tachymeter scale.

Case: 41mm stainless steel case, with pushers for the chronograph functions.

Bracelet: Comes with a stainless steel multi-link bracelet.

Nickname: "True Cevert" due to its association with Formula 1 driver François Cevert, who was often photographed wearing this specific blue-dialed 6139.

Other Notable Wearers: Besides Cevert and Pogue, other notable figures like Pink Floyd's Nick Mason and Bruce Lee have also been known to wear Seiko 6139 watches.
