VINTAGE SEIKO "JUMBO" 6138-3002 CHRONOGRAPH AUTOMATIC

Nice clean example, hands look to have been repainted, horrible bracelet , resets as it should, model number has worn of the caseback , so i am assuming its the 3002 , looks to have been without a caseback seal for sometime as there is evidence of corrosion just above the inner thread....casback screws on fine and no corrosion is visible when case back is fitted.

The Seiko "61 Chrono" is a model equipped with the Cal. 6138, an evolution of the Cal. 6139 that added a 12-hour counter, making it a true chronograph. The Ref. 6138-3000 / 2 is affectionately known as the "Jumbo" due to its impressive 42mm case diameter. This particular piece is a Japan Domestic Model (JDM) with the 23-jewel movement, 

The Cal. 6138B inside is a marvel of its time, featuring an advanced vertical clutch and column wheel, showcasing the high level of Japanese engineering. The push crown mechanism for changing the date, day, and language was groundbreaking. As part of the "61 Chrono" line, this model is recognized as the first automatic chronograph produced by Suwa Seikosha, making it a masterpiece worthy of its reputation.
